Now I am sure that the video game this anime is based off is much better since as we all know it is very hard to adapt a video game into a tv-series and make it great(if at all possible). But projects like these need to be able to stand on its own. And who knows? Maybe it does, I dont know, since I havent heard of the game. But this show has some flaws that make it a bit too generic.

First of all, the pacing during the first half of the show was terrible. I dont know if they got more competent writers or what happened, but it got better after that. Not perfect, but better. It also gained a better focus story-wise and less repetitive dialogue. They even managed to put in some pretty good self-contained stories.

Some of the villains were a bit cliche, but I really liked this guy called Clive. He was pretty mysterious and you could see he had an agenda of his own. There was also this organization called the Nameless Crusade(is it just or does that sound a bit ominous :) ) which was an idea that provided a great and classic plot twist.

The idea of modern and ancient technology co-existing is intresting but its never really explored any deeper, and I think thats a shame because it would have made for some fun philosophical debates, anime style :)

I am not gonna spoil what happens but the ending of the show is unfortunately very abrupt and unsatisfying. So all in all, not a terrible show, but could certainly have been better. If you´re just searching for some generic fantasy to fill your afternoon, enjoy! But if you want a little extra go try something else.
