Summary: Moritaka Mashiro, a junior high school student, content to live out a relatively normal life as any other does, is persuaded by his classmate, Akito Takagi, to become an aspiring mangaka when the latter realizes his natural talent as an artist. However, Moritaka is reluctant to pursue his dream as his uncle, once a mangaka with his own serializations, died from overwork trying to regain his lost status. With Akito's help, Takagi gets another classmate and his school crush, Azuki Miho, who is an aspiring voice actress, to voice in the anime adaptation of their future manga once it is completed. However, Mashiro also proposes to Azuki, who surprisingly accepts only on the condition she will marry him when both of them have achieved their dreams. With a goal set before him, Mashiro begins a long and struggling path to become a famous mangaka.

Created by the same person who made Deathnote this series doesn’t fall behind it terms of capturing our attention despite the simple premise of two aspiring teenage boys trying to make it big as a mangakan. The characters are interesting and relatable and the slow paced of the story allowed us the time to savor Saiko and Shujin losses and triumphs while trying to have a sense of balance between their love life and school life. What makes this anime great is that it is able to make a slice-of-life romance drama look informative without making too dragging and boring. From the various authors like the eccentric genius Inzuma, conceited Fukuda, and poised Aoki as well as the different editors like Hattori and Yujiro each characters offers their own unique personalities and style that makes each episode enjoyable and entertaining. Even the various mangas that they are tyring to make is interesting and there are a couple of popular mangas mentioned in the anime as well like Naruto, Bleach and Onepiece to give it a bit of realism. I really enjoyed the last few episodes where they compete with various authors and editors and they even get a chance to criticized each other’s work which was hilarious but at the same time inspiring. I was surprise to find that making a manga is not as easy as reading them and I understand why some mangas never got finished simply because it demands a lot of time and attention. Even if you manage to create one it’s not even a guarantee if it will get serialized or even get an anime adaptation. If you inspire to become a mangakan, or just love reading them or you’re just want to watch something fresh and learn a thing or two about anime as the same time then Bakuman is a must watch for you.
