Summary: A revamp of the classic anime series, the world is plagued by a decay of all life both natural and robotic. The light of the world, it's sun called the moon, Luna, was kill by the cyborg Casshern; bringing with him the end of the world called the Ruin. Now Casshern wanders in the wasting lands he created in an immortal body and no memories of his past; searching for clues to who he was, meaning to his life, and redemption. Casshern continues to fight against bandits and those who do wrong, as well as himself and those who desperately cling to life; driven by the legend that one can gain new life by consuming Casshern.
After the murder of Luna, the robot society that rules the planet starts to rust and decay. Death and despair spread through the land like wildfire. The only one unaffected by what becomes known as "The Ruin" is Luna's assassin, Casshern. Unable to remember if he really triggered this capital sin against the entire mechanized civilization, Casshern embarks on a journey to unravel the mystery that connects him, Luna, and the plague.
Casshern, a subordinate of Braiking Boss, was sent to assassinate Luna after she appeared as a savior to the human race. After the assassination, Casshern disappears with his memory lost. Years later, he resurfaces to fight off anti-human robots in a post-apocalyptic Earth where humans and robots are dying due to "The Ruin", an unknown phenomenon which kills off robots by rotting their bodies while forcing humans to survive by hiding.

This is really a hard anime to judge. As you watch you get a feeling of the emoness that Casshern has for almost the whole series. Also the first 8 or so episodes all seem the same, Casshern shows up somewhere they find out who he is and try to kill him to save themselves. I swear when I say after getting through half of the anime I was almost ready to quit cause there was hardly no plot development. I stuck with it and still not done, but 4 episodes away and I will say I am glad I stuck with it cause the anime does pick up, even if slightly. Did have an episode that did feel rather pointless (episode 18 or 19). The whole reason to stick with the anime is mainly for the fights which have been spectacular to say the least. The animation of Casshern almost like dancing his way through hords of attacking robots is just amazing. Though at times these fights seem short or not enough occur. I will say give it a go, but if you get tired of it within the first few episodes you really haven't experienced the whole anime. Watch all the way through to get the enjoyment out of it.
