While on a walk to school, he meets a strange girl named Nagisa Furukawa who is a year older, but is repeating due to illness. Due to this, she is often alone as most of her friends have moved on. The two begin hanging out and slowly, as time goes by, Tomoya finds his life shifting in a new direction.

CLANNAD (and the sequel CLANNAD ~ After Story) was one of the most touching and realistically awesome animes I've ever watched. Maybe it was because it was the first Key anime I watched, but I feel that out of the 3 Key animes (CLANNAD, Air, and Kanon), it was the best.

The story is very realistic and believable and you as the audience will be able to connect with the characters and plot very well. There are many cry-worthy moments, so grab some tissues when you sit down to enjoy this anime. It's not all sad, however. There are many happy and hilarious moments that you will enjoy just as much, all throughout the story.

The characters are admirable and very likable, unique in their very own ways. The artwork is quite beautiful too, especially if you're the type to admire super gigantic eyes. The characters are all handsomely laid out, and their personalities are very charming. The music is also one big point to note. The opening to this anime is one of my absolute favourites, and I watched the entire opening, EVERY episode. It's just gorgeous and lovely.

Overall, an amazing journey that will touch your heart and leave you wanting more of the lives of the main characters (which is when you'll go watch the sequel CLANNAD ~ After Story). Enjoy it!
