Personally I think D. Gray-man should also go under the genre of 'tragedy'. While the storyline contains extremely funny characters, what the story of the cameos (e.g. death, forbidden love) goes deep down to touch people's hearts. The storyline is also very intricate and I really respect the writer for putting so much attention into all the details! This is really my favourite anime even though it's been years, because I still remember the impression it gave me was a well-blended mixture of tears and smiles.

The only con is that they have a pretty perfect female main character, which is one I think too plain for the story overall. Blame me for my biasness but I was secretly happy that there was no romance between her and any of the main characters.

Also, through hearsay the anime ended abruptly as the write fell sick. The manga continues and truthfully I'm still hoping for a second season of D. Gray, so let's hope and pray for Hoshino Katsura's recovery.
