The series lost a lot of its entertainment value compared to the first series. An uninteresting new protagonist is introduced as well as an old protagonist in a different way. This made the series far more infanitile in its delivery, something that just doesn't work in Darker Than Black. This only really became watchable later in the series, and that was only with me praying for a decent ending. My advice would be to skip this series and only watch the ovas which act as a bridge between the first series and this one.
