My first impression of Dog Days is that it was just your average magical genre where a boy was whisk away to magical realm by a pleading princess and asked to play hero in order to fight their war and save the day. The first few episodes got me interested. The animation, action scenes and even the magical seals that they used reminds me a bit of Lyrical Nanoha and the cats and dogs characters where really cute to watch. I also like the idea that the race that's been having a hard time fighting the war were the dogs instead of the cats (usually its the other way around). What really peak my interest was the idea that the so-called war was actually just a game that they played in order to gain points thus make money! Watching it reminds me of your typical rpg/strategy war games where you set the parameters, arrange your troops, makes some conditions etc... in fact nobody actually dies instead they turn into cute little furball versions of themselves! Milfi (dog princess) is also a pop-star who after an "event" held concerts for entertainment and yup all is invited even the cats! All these was fresh and new unfortunately things started to go downhill when the story shifted to a much more serious tone like the Leo (dog princess) attempt to actually invade the neighboring kingdom and take their price treasure and the appearance of the not-so friendly demons (actually there was only one!) which i think is out of place and totally ruined the fun & exciting premise that the series actually started on. The reason why Leo wants to get the treasure just to prevent her vision of Milfi dying instead of talking to her about it (yup! they're actually best buds) is also a bit confusing. It would have been better if they stick to the "war games" and fan-service trying to outwit each other in order to make points & cash instead of "demon-hunter" story which is typical and boring.
