It runs off soon after, with Tamaki chasing after it. Soon Tamaki finds herself in a place where ‘it doesn’t feel like the world I came from’. She gets attacked by three slime creatures, and a male comes charging in to save her - by clamping his hands around her body and mouth and telling her to be quiet.

I had really high expectations for this anime but, I'm really critical on this one. It wasn't as good as I had anticipated it to be. My greatest criticism is the overall story. It started out pretty good with the protagonist, Tamaki, going on her quest to find out what it means to be a Tamayori princess but, I personally think the writers dragged it out too much. I didn't really like her as much as I thought I would only because Tamaki couldn't aid the other characters except cheer them on. In addition, they focused too much on giving each character at least one line to speak in one scene just so that everyone gets to speak up. Afterwards, there is an excessive use of screen closeups of characters (probably for fanservice). I also wished that there was more development on characters instead of just giving the viewers a brief summary of each character's personality. The ending wasn't too satisfying. It felt too much of a cliffhanger and I kind of wished they made another season to conclude the story. (I kinda wanted to see each character's full transformation from human to non-human)

On the good side, I think there's good character development on Mahiro because he provides comic relief which pretty much was my remaining reason to continue Hiiro no Kakera. The use of CG was good and it didn't take up too much of the series. There was also a bit of fight choreography incorporated which was pretty good.

Overall, I don't recommend this series to seasoned anime watchers. I would suggest this anime to people who are fans of light stories. Hiiro no kakera is simple and short. If you are a big fan of otome based storylines, go for it.
