Very Funny, Unique Sort of Vampirism

This anime is very funny. Maka is sort of the anti-vampire: sweet, a bloodgiver instead of taker, able to stand the sunlight, having no problems with garlic (although here vampires only hate garlic because they have strong noses), and wanting a normal life. Vampires in this anime respond to strong emotions in humans according to what each vampire prefers: for example, Maka responds to unhappiness while her brother responds to stress. When Maka's brother feeds off a woman, her stress is relieved and when Maka gives someone her blood, that person becomes happy. I rather enjoy this new type of vampirism.

The anime has some drama, school life, lots of comedy (mostly sort of slapstick), some horror, and romance. Maka develops a relationship with a boy who alone knows her secret and the two become friends and towards the end, maybe more. The anime stays quite light despite the heavy themes. This is also one of the enjoyable things about it.
