I was a bit disappointed with Uta no Prince-sama just because i have some high expectation on this anime since i rarely see any reverse harem genre unfortunately it failed to deliver what i was expecting. What stood out for me first is the animation, it was really well done specially the male characters which really suited the "prince" part of the series though none of them actually has any unique qualities in terms of attitude and mannerism that separates them from the typical "male dating game." All six characters are one-dimensional: 1. friendly 2. mysterious 3. charmer 4. boyish (shota) 5. reserve 6. dual personality (good/bad). The heroine personality is also a bit weak for me, you might think that being surrounded by cute boys with great voices and diverse personality will allow the character to grow and mature however, almost all throughout the series we get this girl with an inferiority complex and who can't even decide which boy she is really attracted too the most. The idea of creating a group instead of choosing just 1 person to pair with maybe a bit unpredictable however, it cause the "romantic" side of the anime to suffer so instead of a "love-romance" series we get a splice of life/school atmosphere with weird and eccentric principal and a cross-dressing "idol teacher." Plot-wise we only get to see glimpse of each of the characters personal history so there isn't any solid reason why they acted the way they did or explain why they wanted to become idols. There is also a lack of any real "antagonist" in the series like a rival group, a jealous classmate, or even disapproving parent (since two of the character came from wealthy families) which could have spiced up and add a bit of drama in the series. The only thing aside from the animation that made we watch this series is the music which is great aside from that it's better to watch skip beat, ouran host club, yamato nadeshiko (comedy) or fushigi yuugi and hanasakeru seishouen!
