I finished watching it. Roots was a great anime. The soundtrack/music was great, as were the scenery and characters; very detailed and colorful. As for the story itself; it's very real, primarily because it's an RPG based anime. (People choose an avatar join a guild/team and go on quests.) If you've played RPG type games you'll find this to be a great perspective; and if you haven't it maybe difficult to relate to.

The only anime more boring than Hack Roots is Twelve Kingdoms, it's dreadfully slow, the dialogue is uninteresting and the story is lack luster. If you want to watch something slow watch Xxx Holic or Inu x Boku SS at least they have interesting stories. There is just nothing to care about in this anime imagine watching people play warcraft and just stand around and talk in town before killing a boar once in a while, that's what Hack Roots is like you are watching an anime about the most boring online game never created.

.hack//Roots is the prequel to the .hack//G.U. videogames. It follows the story of Haseo, a Multi-Weapon and member of the Twilight Brigade guild. In the year 2015, CC Corp. Building burnt down, and with it, most of its data for The World. By splicing data from what would have potentially been another game, CC Corp. created The World R:2 and released it in 2016. Set six months before .hack//G.U., Haseo logs into The World R:2 for the first time and falls victim to the PKs that reside within The World R:2. He is saved by Ovan and Shino, which prompts (read more)
