This anime has quickly become one of my favourite romantic anime series of all time... maybe it's the combination of multiple endings, HAPPY endings, and short resolutions that cause me to enjoy this one so much.

I realize not everyone is like me but I have a hard time watching long drawn out dramas that barely advance the relationships until the very end... so being able to pop in a series like Amagami and see a lovely little slice of romance in 4 episodes has been fantastic!

Each arc involves the main character, Junichi, with a new girl - whether it's the school idol, his sisters' classmate(s), a childhood friend, etc. The girls are all very cute and have a wide range of personalities so each short arc feels brand new.

One aspect that I really enjoyed during the entire series was noticing all the little nuances and scenes that tied the various shorter arcs together. For example, the series takes place over the same time period so during each arc the characters can often be seen doing something that in a previous arc involved Junichi since he was with that particular girl at the time... it'll make sense when you watch but I thought that was a great touch.

I also really enjoyed (as did my wife) that they had 2 arcs where they show Junichi and the main girl 10 years later and married. That to me is the purpose of romance - to come to a permanent conclusion. Sure, flirty romance is fun, but real romance is the kind that lasts...

Technically, the series was well done. The artwork is very clean and the animation is smooth. The BGM is appropriate and I really enjoyed the two OPs. I loved that they have each girl perform their own ED so although I didn't always care for the actual song it was interesting nonetheless...

This series is based on a game from the same game company as Kimikiss (another all time favourite romantic anime series of mine) so I hoped it would be good. And I'm pleased to announce I was not disappointed!

Personally, my favourite arc was the Morishima arc, but close second were the Kaoru and Ayatsuji arcs.

If you enjoy romance, and not the dramatic kind but the comedic kind, then you'll love Amagami SS!

Highly recommended!
