So, now I have finally gotten around to seeing this sequel to the first series, and I gotta say:huge improvement over the first. It expanded and followed up on what came in the first series while also introducing new concepts(which carry connections to the previous series as well) and characters which make for great drama and action. The characters are well developed and all compliment each other in some way. The pacing of the show is astoundingly good, knowing just when to slow down or speed things up, or reveal a plot twist(and let me tell you, ( read more)
So, now I have finally gotten around to seeing this sequel to the first series, and I gotta say:huge improvement over the first. It expanded and followed up on what came in the first series while also introducing new concepts(which carry connections to the previous series as well) and characters which make for great drama and action. The characters are well developed and all compliment each other in some way. The pacing of the show is astoundingly good, knowing just when to slow down or speed things up, or reveal a plot twist(and let me tell you, there are quite a few, that will really suprise you). Another thing I liked, is that they let the plot have consequenses. In action shows like this its often easy to gloss over the emotional repercussions, but here they let them matter. In fact there was an entire episode dealing with the aftermath of an attack on their home base, resulting in several casualties from the school. There were funerals and everything( this episode also featured a somewhat morbid scene where the students are temporarily buried alive, as part of some insane training exercise). Speaking of the battles, they are a lot more creative and different this time around, which is very welcome. Going back to the characters I was kind of suprised how the show made me bond with characters I initially didnt think would matter in the long run. Sure, there are a few minor characters that dont get as much screentime as the others, but there´s also a suprisingly large cast of main characters who each get their own sub plots and make their personal journeys throughout the series. I can´t give it an excellent grade cause the dialogue felt a bit weird and unnessecary in a few places(though overall, it was pretty good), and there was this one character I wish they would have explained a bit more about, but still a worthy sequel to the first series. Also, one last thing. It is possible to watch this series without having watched the first show, considering the ridiculously large time gap, but you will get much more satisfaction out of it if you have watched the first show too, since you´ll fondly remember the things they refer to from the first series.
End of rant/review. ( show less)

For those who are interested in watching this series, I recommend you watch the first Aquarion and then the second. I hate to spoil the fun, but the first Aquarion is way better than the second. I just find the first one far more entertaining.

Aquarion is back!!!!!! This was something I wasn't expecting at all.
For newcomers this is the second series of Aquarion so no prior knowledge or the first series is needed though I would recommend that you watch the first series.
For those who've seen the first series welcome in a fresh new cast. It does have a few character "reincarnations." Similar to the second series of Last Exile this new series has very little to do with the previous series.
Storywise this anime is promising as an ongoing anime. So far it has been mainly character introduction ( read more)

Animation is slightly different from the previous Aquarion. I found the EVOL is brighter and of course better (technology has advanced since Aquarion came out).
For those into mecha anime this is something I'd recommend to you. People who've seen the first series and loved it then you won't be disappointed with the new series. Newcomers enjoy its rich comedy of a coed school life with a variety of characters and personalities and of course not to forget the mecha action and magical powers. ( show less)

Aquarion Evol. New Evolution 12000 years after the 2 Aquarion history happen. its okay for the evolution. the mecha and quality is good too. Worthy to watch especially fangirls who love Lovey Dovey genre. Eventhough its still in shounen genre. Aquarion never stop amazed me especially the mecha concept. its weird but interesting! i like how the combination happen. congratulations Aquarion~
as Aquarion big fan, i'm not really into to this new Aqua evol. I like the 2 st series better than this new. because, IMO, the meeting between Apollo and Silvia ( read more)

I like the 2 st series better than this new. because, IMO, the meeting between Apollo and Silvia more beautiful than platonic~ and 1 more thing is- 2 last series before had a unique characteristic-character design- and the feelings about legend itself suit very much! i'm not dissapointed about the new Aqua~ its good to see evolution~ so, dont bother by my opinion-Aquarion always cool~! It's funny, it's entertaining, and it's have a weird mecha :)
Each character in this anime have a different kind of secret power. But the real thing is it's mecha.
This one have a different kind of mecha, it's can mix the power depends on his driver. have a 3 kind of forms and a 3-some pilot!? What the...
Anyway, I like this anime especially it's view of the city and the academy.

Okay, not sure if this is a reliable review because I haven't seen the previous Aquarion. But the good thing is that to my knowledge this has nothing to do with the previous one. So you don't have to worry if you didn't watch the other one in order to get what's going on in this. So without further-or-do, I would like to begin:
This anime literally is something....it has action, suspense, comedy, mystery, and even fan service, what more coudl you ask? This is a very entertaining show because each episode has something new in store for you. Even ( read more)

This anime literally is something....it has action, suspense, comedy, mystery, and even fan service, what more coudl you ask? This is a very entertaining show because each episode has something new in store for you. Even if you do predict what would happen, they would always through in some ranomd humor during a serious moment that would make it all better. For an action flick they sure know how to put in the humor, like how in ep 8...not saying what exactly except..."LET'S STRIP TO GAIN POWER!!!" *ahem* man that totally took me off guard and got me laughing through the battle. Even a running gag, whenever the main character gets turned on he apparently starts floating in the air, so its pretty obvious to everyone else whenever he's horny. That said, this show does have some fanservice but they do it tastefully and with humor. A good thing though is that they do both the male and female fan service, so there's enough for everyone ^_^ even fujoshi. I'm not going to say everything why this action show is so funny, you'll have to see for yourself.
Now as for action, despite how much I hate CG (its all in CG)...I can't help but feel excited and cheering on for them in my head as they fight. The basis behind their battle system is that everyone individually pilots their own robot which is sort of useless by itself by by forming teams of 3 they're able to transform and merge their "Aquarions" together to form this massive mecha through a process called "Union". The nice thing is that the teams of 3 constantly change around so there's new mecha's shown throughout the series (even though every ep doesn't have fighting). Even if its just the same 3 people, they can just change the order (who gets to be the head) and they come out with a completely different mecha with different weapons. I guess another thing to look forward to...not sure, is that everyone goes into this orgasmic state of nakedness whenever they merge...apparently because only virgins can pilot these things and the sensation of combining robots feels like sex, so awkward moments when your team is all 3 guys (as my favorite character stated "I'm tired of these sausage fests! Why can't I be with a girl for once?!) ...wow, an entire cast of highschoolers that are virgins...that's like a first in anime. But anyways, I guess I should leave it off with the only issue I have with this series...even though I love and adore the character designs to death, some of these characters that are drawn (mainly with the antagonist) have a completely different drawing style, as if they should belong on another show...oh yeah, both op and end songs are catchy and love the ending art (if you look carefully when he shows up, my fav character "Andy" is actually isn't wearing pants but just tight black boxer shorts and long tied boots...an odd outfit to wear...but still sexy). 0_0 well, hopefully you found this helpful and sorry it was so long, this show deserves a summary this long because you can't sum it all in one sentence ^_^ ( show less)

Well so far not nearly as good as the original series, which was awesome as it combined the minds behind Macross and Escaflowne. Dialogue is good, the action is good, but anyone familiar with the original Aquarion may find this one lacking. That said I'm going to keep watching it and see if it starts to relate more to the original, though the only concept I found really odd is that in the original it took 12,000 years after a war, and the description on this one says it's an additional 12,000 years after the first series. I'm not quite sure if that's ( read more)
