Aquarion is back!!!!!! This was something I wasn't expecting at all.
For newcomers this is the second series of Aquarion so no prior knowledge or the first series is needed though I would recommend that you watch the first series.
For those who've seen the first series welcome in a fresh new cast. It does have a few character "reincarnations." Similar to the second series of Last Exile this new series has very little to do with the previous series.
Storywise this anime is promising as an ongoing anime. So far it has been mainly character introduction episodes though the story is rolling along in the background as well.
Animation is slightly different from the previous Aquarion. I found the EVOL is brighter and of course better (technology has advanced since Aquarion came out).
For those into mecha anime this is something I'd recommend to you. People who've seen the first series and loved it then you won't be disappointed with the new series. Newcomers enjoy its rich comedy of a coed school life with a variety of characters and personalities and of course not to forget the mecha action and magical powers.
