Bastard is a classic Fantasy. Dark Schneider is the perfect anti-hero; always serving his own agenda and caring nothing for those with less power than him. The humor, action and dialogue are all second to none; and the animation is excellent for the time it was made. It would be nice if the anime continued further, but it does leave off at a resolution point so it's not so bad.

The story is uncreative, the drawing and animation is bad and ancient, The video quality isn't exactly hd, the characters are stereotypical, the action is nothing great even for its time but still, it is quite enjoyable to watch. Its got a b-move cheese factor charm which although makes this a "crappy anime" but still makes it entertaining.

PS. it helps that its only 6 episodes long, that prevents it from getting repetitive.

I'm not partial to the voice acting in any dubbed series, but this one is worth listening to just because of how cheesey the voice actors make it sound. It reminds me quite thoroughly of a D&D campaign with all the characters being drawn into something against their will. You won't regret spending a bit of time watching this in English and Japanese.. and try to time your drinks at the right moments, or it may end up all over your screen.

I would say that this is true to the manga, and a lot funnier in English. While its still funny in Japanese, I find the dialogue to be funnier in English. But to just give a little recap for whats in this anime: Wizards, Monsters, Ninjas, Magic, Magic Ninjas, and an arrogant main character that you can't help but like because he is completely bad a**. The story might be a little campy, but again its an 80's thing. For being only a few episodes long it is definitely worth the time.

this anime is very entertaining and easy to get into, only drawback is the shortness of the series.

Dunno about you but i just love the main char...

Always had a weakness for the "bad guy turns hero gig"...

As for the rest of the anime...all i can say is watch it...any more and it will be spoilers alert.

Only drawback is that those are all the EPs/OVAs.
