conclusion: looks like they tried to set this apart from the original series, and they succeed partly. the plot in itself easily makes sense in the end, but never quite goes crazy. the pacing is horribly inconsistent; it opens some smaller gaps it doesn't care to close; and in all its development, it's sadly very predictable, e.g. the antagonists are way too generic. however, the new character, whilst literally coming out of nowhere, is likable (won't say 'easy to sympathise with' as the movie is simply too short for that), and though the emotion doesn't get across to well due to the pacing, there is some of that; something the original series never quite elaborated on. fighting and dialogue are more or less balanced, and the animation's a notch above the usual level back then. it's an okay one to me, no must-watch, but probably a most enjoyable pastime to bleach fans.

Now I know a lot of you guys will come after me with pitchforks and torches for this but this movie is boring. It had horrible pacing, lame villains, and the plot keeled over and died before it even came to the finish line. And I know we are supposed to be really emotionally invested in this Senna character, but since we know next to nothing about her that just isn´t going to work. I mean sure you pity her a little bit, but you can´t go that extra mile for her. I guess they were trying stuff out in this movie, tryed to make it a bit different from the tv-series while still not straying too far off from the source material, but I think it would have been better if they would have dared going a bit more crazy with the plot. I'd like to see you do better with an hour and a half. Its an excellent movie over all, and beats the other bleach moves without trying hard. The battles the characters must fight are generally the apex of a storyline or movie in bleach, but this one is the exception. Senna is introduced for just this movie, mostly as a shinigami. The main drawing point is learning about this character (heyLookABattle) how she just kinda pops in and out of places (ohAnotherBattle) and why these goofy green cloaks are after her (TimefortheBossFight) and you really begin to feel for her and Ichigo at the end. Even the close is rather neat letting it fall neatly in place almost anywhere in season one. (show less)

Dunno what to say. Just that the film was so good, that I couldnt wait for the DVD. (I bought it already to watch the movie over and over again on japanese with german sub because I hate the german synchro that much, that I prefer to bear with the subtitles)

Ichigos gentle feelings for Senna are just the sugar icing on the cage. The music is wonderful and the moments of Ichigo and Senna spending time with each other while searching for the blanks, the Jinenju and the wirepuller behind everything, are so lovely that I couldn't help but cry when Ichigo lied and knelt down in front of the gravestone. After the credits you get a reason to smile again and I thought "Stupid Ichigo! Go after her! Now!"
But the movie is really good and Kon goes to any lengths, to arrange the humor-scenes, which Ichigo cannot while kicking some asses. (show less)
