pros
+ unique concept and story
+ dark but good artwork and animation
+ good characters, dynamics, and development
cons
- sudden end without closure
- strong characters don't get a role (yet)
- mc a little too wimpy
conclusion: 16+ as it's quite the bloodbath - but don't let a first shallow impression deceive you, this isn't entirely a slaughterhouse. or rather, it is, but one with an interesting story and a unique twist to it behind all of it. dark, but fitting artwork, characters you're able to empathise with (well, just forget the main ( read more)

This anime is very good however i have an issue with it. It has a well designed story, an good dialogue, animation and entertainment. The story is very different and it evolves well. It flows from a base story quite well and the character development is good. There is only one issue. The ending. This anime could have been amazing! I felt this heartbreak when the story ends so suddenly. It had great character development and a very good story and animation until the end. Its so annoying because it feels like the writers have developed a story that ( read more)

Its so annoying because it feels like the writers have developed a story that could have been just as good and probably just a bit shorter than Bleach! No joke (I love bleach) and then just said " We couldn't be bothered with this series" and discarded it. It made me sad because I see the potential for this anime. Hopefully they will make a season 2. ( show less)

When I heard about some story with gore and cruelty of some Youma monsters and a beautiful female warriors I was very excited to see that. Unfortunately I was disappointed. This should have been an awesome series, but it's destroyed with a weak ending and irritating character Raki. Also, I didn't like the main protagonist of Claymore, Clare. She was too calm, mute and empty. I wanted to see some another who would lead the plot (in manga, phantom Miria have a bigger role). Instead of her personality I prefer Galatea, Miria,Teresa and Irene. Some ( read more)

Some characters who are much more interesting to the story, and not less important, like Isley of the North or Riful of the West haven't had enough time to demonstrate their power and abillity because we haven't see enough of them. And, because of that, manga is much much better. What I love is dark animation of monster. Claymore anime have a very serious art of gore and brutallity and the animation of monsters (Youma) is really magnificent, not funny and not silly like some clowny monster from Bleach (like Hollows). And I liked dark fantasy genre that contain strong story telling, but in the anime, story is unfinished and incomplete. I'm already sad, this show would be much greater but it's ruined with a terrible end. ( show less)

Personally? I am not much into excessively violent anime, so I didn’t enjoy this as much as I could have. However, there is an interesting background story behind this anime, which very much saved it for me.
“Claymore” has a usually straight plot, and its basic concept, though at first glance being the usual good-vs.-bad pattern, is quite unique. What makes this anime work is its individual, well-planned, and quite unpredictable background which makes this anime interesting, though dark, and lifts it from the level of a brainless hack and ( read more)

“Claymore” has a usually straight plot, and its basic concept, though at first glance being the usual good-vs.-bad pattern, is quite unique. What makes this anime work is its individual, well-planned, and quite unpredictable background which makes this anime interesting, though dark, and lifts it from the level of a brainless hack and slash. The plot is generally fast-paced, so much in fact that the end was rushed. Sadly also, a lot of questions were left unanswered. There doesn’t seem to be an anime continuation, although there is the manga (which I’ll go check out – it seems to be on Manga-Access.com, and I just hope it’ll solve the questions the anime left unanswered).
Characters are well developed with unique backgrounds, and fit perfectly into the anime’s dark atmosphere. Since the Claymore have the same hair colour and wear uniforms, they resemble each other a lot, but this anime isn’t just about badass women. ^^ Character development and dynamics are well done; even cold characters begin to warm up throughout the series. The main character, Clare, has a deep personality, and I must say I love the conflict centering around her quest for revenge. However, watchers are somehow left in the dark concerning her true relationship with Raki, a boy/young man (IDK his actual age -_-) she saved and is travelling with.
Genre-wise, “Claymore” contains loads of action, horror, and fantasy, some adventure, psychological/angst genre, and a little friendship/romance (depending on the watcher’s interpretation). With the female warriors, there’s a touch of ecchi in this. Action/horror/fantasy are the defining genres though, and as a warning: “Claymore” contains quite a huge amount of violence and gore. In English: THIS IS NO ANIME FOR KIDS. Period.
The dialogue is pretty much what you would expect. You aren’t left behind, but neither would it be very funny or quirky. It’s horror genre after all.
The music is good, not overly so but it fits; and for some reason, the ending song (once more) got stuck in my ears (I might just wonder how many anime songs are stuck by now ^^). The artwork is finely done, with quite a number of furious fights. Colours and atmosphere are rather dark and muted. The battle sequences are captivating, though this is a hardcore series. If you are into hardcore swordfighting action with horror/fantasy genre, a bit of friendship and a touch of ecchi but with a good background plot, this is definitely worth a watch since plot and battle scenes are intriguing. I should be issuing a warning for horror, violence, and gore though. NOT FOR UNDER-16. ( show less)

Good fighting series with loads of more or less badass girls. The story is good but seems somehow unfinished at the end (maybe there's more to come, didn't read the manga). Provides good entertainment. Animation is good, not perfect but still very enjoyable. Worth a try :)

Will to be honest I did watch this anime and become # 1 fan. But my love to it shattered in a blink of an eye
When I did saw the manga to continue on the story.
The story in the anime stray from the original manga and if any1 try to make another season that will need a miracle to do it. Because the last battle was never happened and they want a dramatic ending to the anime so they F up in this and even the ending of that battle was F crazy and not like it.
All the ppl who watch the anime PLZ go watch the manga and then give me ur rate ( read more)

I actually quite like this series. It is a bit violent, but on the whole, the action sequences and fight scenes are nicely done. There are alos some nice relationships between the characters. The atmosphere is a bit dark and bloody, however, so it might not suit everyone's taste.

The thing I liked most about this anime is the storyline. I devoured the episodes to find out what would happen.
It was a complete story with a sad and interesting tale. I felt for the characters. It did leave me with some minor questions though.
