| Summary: |
Set during the opening days of World War II on the Eastern Front. Its main cast are a group of Soviet teenagers with extraordinary abilities; the teenagers have been drafted to form a special unit to fight the invading German army. They are opposed by a Schutzstaffel (SS) officer who is attempting to raise from the dead a supernatural army of crusaders from the 12th-century Order of the Sacred Cross and enlist them in the Nazi cause. Pretty soon all the teenagers die, except for the protagonist Nadia. She is taken to a secret Soviet lab that studies supernatural phenomena, especially contacts with the dead. Nadia's task is to dive into the world of the dead for reconnaissance. There, in the Gloomy Valley, she meets her dead friends and tries to persuade them to continue fighting. |

The premise was very intresting, but it unfortunately felt very rushed. The animation was pretty good too. It kind of annoyed me though when they kept cutting back to those real life people discussing different things about the war. Kind of took you out of the story.

If you like war movies/animes or whatever this should deffinitly be on your list!
Its about the secret services of the nazis and soviets that use paranormal powers during WWII.
You get dragged immediatly into the war, this is were the animation really shines, as it fits perfectly with the setting.
Only thing that I didnt like, is the fact that theres only 1 episode. They should make more of this!

Animation is a pure perfection! First Squad have a very artistic paranormal interpretation about Soviet, Nazis era archetypes and their war. But, the saddest thing about this anime is uncompleted story! I need more episodes to see the full potential of this story and characters who are not very intheresting!
