When I started watching Gundam 00 , it has been the first Gundam series I had ever watched. From the first episode, I was gripped by the plot and premise and was intrigued by the political and social struggles the world had found itself in. When I started watching Gundam 00 , it has been the first Gundam series I had ever watched. From the first episode, I was gripped by the plot and premise and was intrigued by the political and social struggles the world had found itself in. By the end of the first season I was itching for more. Then I watched the second season and was disappointed. Perhaps it was the fact that the focus of the series shifted from the grand-scale politics and conflict to the personal conflicts of the characters. Because of this, the second season was forgettable to me. Then I watched the movie and was reminded of why I'd been so engrossed in the series in the first place.
What I LIKED about Gundam 00 the Movie: The Awakening of Trailblazer:
+Excellent animation, this movie was obviously well-budgeted
+Enjoyable character interactions
+An atmosphere of mystery and intrigue
+Nice conclusion and resolution of the issues introduced throughout the series
+Important themes from the series re-surface
What I DISLIKED about Gundam 00 the Movie: The Awakening of Trailblazer:
-A lot of cheesy moments and yelling and so forth (but, hey, it's a good kind of cheesy)
-Plot gives way to complete chaos towards the end
Summary:
The viewer definitely needs to have seen the series to make any sense out of this. The non-stereotypical ending (or just all-out weirdness) will certainly make this a memorable movie. Enjoy Gundam fans! (
