the highlight of this anime is its superb and artistic animation one of the best i've seen and if your into gorgeous boys, swords and a bit of crossdressing this anime will certainly entertain you! the first few episodes were a bit of a dragged but the good thing about this anime is that it doesn't exaggerate when it comes to sword fighting and they are done nicely as well. the relationship between the main character (who happens to be cross-dressing as a male) and the handful of men is also a bit of an interest and i look forward and how it will developed in the next season since the 1st season left quite a cliffhanger but all in all this anime is really something to watch out for. If you like bishounen that have personality, then this is the anime for you. Season Two is coming in the fall of 2010 and I can't wait for it. I usually don't like shoujo titles but this one piqued my interest. It has historical references which can help you with your Japanese history. (That's how it helped me learn) There is its own variety of humor and dialogue to make the plot progress.

You can see that the animation quality is very high in this anime which makes your viewing experience a more enjoyable one. It's not very much on the intense fighting but there is blood I assure you. When the Shinsengumi rush into Ikedaya, all the fun begins. And your brief history lesson.
