conclusion: i don't really have high expectations for harem/ecchi series anymore, but i did get surprised at least a bit this time. it doesn't drown as much in ecchi as many other series (freezing, seikon no qwaser, etc.). the problem with the storyline on this one is that it's a little cramped due to short time. it doesn't explain all that much, and the characters could have needed more development. the setting's obviously made for harem, not too realistic but hey... it's anime. there's some ecchi, but it doesn't disturb the storyline there is too much. the dialogue's good, only a little expected. bright, smooth animation, although maybe not as action-heavy as most might expect. an okay one to watch if you don't mind strong women (honestly, those dudes *facepalms*). personally, i'm again being a sucker for the manga. it's less rushed, and storyline and charas seem far better executed there. there is still the somewhat-generic harem setting to count in however for those who mind that.

This was an obvious set up for harem I mean he's the only guy in the school so it was a given. However that doesn't mean in any way that its a bad anime on the contrary its quite good.
The animation is bright and smooth so all the scenes are easy to follow. There's very little dark scenes since this is a school life genre it takes places during the daytime not to mention the anime hardly touches the dark serious stuff so in the end I guess there was little need for dark scenes anyway. In some cases I thought the animation was a little out of place but then again that could just be me.
The characters are you usual harem characters childhood friends, a rich upherself person, a person with a promise of "marriage" to the main character and of course your classic romantic dense main character whose cluelessness gets him into most of the trouble.
The voice actors are pretty well suited to the characters there are a few familiar voices I found. The English dub was only recently released in America this year but looking at the cast they're not too bad (Hilary Haag really does such Rin's personality).
The soundtrack is pretty average nothing to go crazy about. Oh for the heads up the end credits song has various versions so if you get confused when looking it up the difference is the number of voices in the song and that's about it.

So for those after a mecha genre, likes or doesn't mind the harem and is after comedy then I'd suggest this anime to you. Its short and easy to finish. Unlike most harem the level of echi is very low and is more centred around the trouble Ichika gets into being the only guy in the school. If you enjoyed the anime then there's also the manga which is ongoing still and also the original work of the light novel which is also ongoing. (show less)

Well mostly when you here ecchi your mind goes right for Highschool of the Dead. But honestly, this is more wholesome ecchi (if there's such a word). Its not the type of ecchi to go and get edited out, just some fanservice shots.
As for the action, immedieatly in the first ep you're drawn in to some sort of group battle against an unknown force. Its just that way the characters eventually learn to work together is worth it as a fighting mecha-anime just cause they're not always fighting for themselves.
Now the storyline doesn't scream evil villians and spout out massive terminology for you to remember (AKA Bleach), which is a good, but also bad thing.
The only dissapointing thing I found was that yeah, its a harem, the girl cast falls for the only male character. But don't be fooled by the title for Ep5 yaoi fangirls! Honestly I thought the main character would get a male fan in the show chasing after him, which would be interesting...but alas...eventually you find out the truth which ruins it. Honestly throwing in a gay dude falling for the main character as in all the other female cast members wouldn't be so bad. So this is a typical Harem, nothing out of the ordinary. (show less)

I'm not a big fan of Ecchi, but if it goes along with a decent show, I don't mind it. And when I heard this had ecchi, I was expecting like Ikitousen levels since that was the last ecchi I saw (like 5 years ago...). But it's really not that much in the episodes I've seen. You get a little cleavage, a shot of Houki in a towel, and it's definitely meant to be sexy because they gloss it up. But it's not like "OMG this show is nothing but boobs!" Probably about the same as Vandread, which I never thought was Ecchi.

I gave the story an average rating, because it isn't particularly strong. It's not bad, just not something I expect to last more than a season or two. It doesn't explain too much why things are the way that they are, but you sort of expect it to since it's sci-fi and not so much supernatural. The dialogue is pretty good, but a little expected based on the story. Like men getting laughed at cuz we're inferior to women now or the girls cooing over the only guy. But a lot of it is funny. The characters aren't well developed, but they have the potential to be. The sister is particularly interesting, but I don't see them expanding on her that much more so that her mystery draws people in.

The animation is great. Just watching the first thirty seconds of it you can tell and then when you see the actual characters, they don't look too crazy and with it being "ecchi" you expect giant tits, but that's not really the case. A lot of them are slender and some have bigger than real life boobs, but not ones that look fake. They're well-proportioned. Overall it's fairly entertaining and I hope it doesn't get cancelled in the middle of the season and I don't know if this is based off a manga or not, but if it is I'll probably read that ahead of time because I do really like it and recommend it to everyone. You could at least try it. It's just 30 minutes out of your day for one episode... (show less)

If you're looking for an epic story, this isnt it. But if you're looking for something entertaining to watch without thinking too hard, then by all means, this is something worth trying out. The animation is great too.

Also, this anime isnt shoujo, as someone was saying. Its got a harem thing going, so while this is for the guys, i dont see why any girl wouldnt enjoy this either. Basically School, plenty of girls and a guy, with some mecha action in between.

So to conclude, while there are things that get me down about this anime, its good all in all, and while its nothing different or special, its one of the series i'll be watching every week. (show less)

I like the concept of having your robo suit or whatever it is...IS. I think. So far, it hasn't been discovered why that guy was chosen to pilot one, but i'm pretty sure, with each episode, one will find out. The dialogue is all right, the only thing I don't like about the main character, the only guy, is that he really is clueless when a girl likes him, typical of any anime. And that he doesn't take fighting or his school that seriously, seeing him messed up, it's painful. He doesn't know how to represent guys.
Anyways, animation, is good in my opinion, and the entertainment is there. This anime makes me laugh, and that's why i keep watching it.
I suggest you watch it, you may like it. Overall for me, so far this anime is a 3/5. (show less)

Infinite Stratos is about Ichika Onimura, who is the only guy on the face of the planet that can use an I.S. (mecha). Therefore, he is sole male student at the IS Academy, where the students learn to use the I.S. for sports and international tournaments. Naturally, all the girls go absolutely banannas for him, much to the dismay of his (rival/childhood friends/classmates/ Im sure that we'll get the whole gang in here) love interests.

For all the cliche things about the show, I find myself enjoying it more often than not. The animation is pretty good, the story is fun, the characters are likeable enough and I got a couple of chuckles in. Its a good way to pass the time. Give it a watch. (show less)
