Imp info first: This is the OVA belonging to the Junjou Romantica anime/manga series, which is a BL series. Those who arenât sure theyâre comfortable with that can leave this whole archive alone, period.
For those who liked the anime or manga however, this is a slightly late but definitely nice reminder. With the entirety of three sub-stories in an episode of average length, it might well look like a condensed Junjou season, so-to-speak; yet even if it may be condensed, none of the flavour gets lost in the process.

Review? Iâll try and keep it short, since itâs only one episode, and all-too-easily spoiled for that matter.
In that sense, thereâs not that much to say about the story. Romantic, short, and just like the anime itself: sweet like a cup of chocolate. Mind your teeth⊠um, wait⊠kidding? XP
The characters are known and well; same old, same funny, same quirky. No change in the voice actors, so everyone known still sounds the same. And the dialogue, where it is a bit on the simple-clichéd side, is so romantic it might well leave you all mushy inside.
With only one episode, the animation might be a little hard to judge, yet itâs definitely on the upper side. To me, it looks slightly more fluent than the original seriesâ animation. Slightly less âspecial effectsâ and pink backgrounds, slightly less comedic SD moments, and quite obviously no major changes in the artwork itself, yet if you ask me, that does it good. Music sounds similar to the series, not particularly outstanding but good enough to fit the mood.
So, conclusion? For those who liked the original series, this is a late reminder, but similar to the series; just as sweet, just as heartwarming, and just as hilarious. For those who like BL and never watched the original series, itâs recommended--the whole series may be a bit on the clichĂ©d cookie-cutter-fairy-tale side, but itâs sweet, itâs romantic, itâs hilarious, and usually not so over-the-top that it seems stupid. Though the original series had a bit more fluttering hearts and fluffy pink backgrounds, this OVA is nonetheless a good point to get a general impression. Personally, Iâm slightly more into those serious drama/romance combinations, but I like the entire Junjou series; and this OVA was just a fluffily-sweet reminder to lay back and enjoy. :3
BL fans (like me) have fun. :D Also, donât be fooled by the age rating. It might say âadults onlyâ, but it's no more explicit than the original anime--allusions at most are all there is.
Cheers!~ (
