In this world, there are three identical looking people in existence who split between them an energy-like force called “Terra.” This energy can be attributed to the amount of “Luck” or “Life Energy” that an individual possesses. There also exists beings who observe the human world, maintaining the balance of Terra, known as the “Coexistence Equilibrium.” These beings possess ability that surpass that of a normal human being and reside in hiding in places known as the “Pure Place” in tribes. They are called the Terra Guardians. This is a tale of battle that begins with a chance meeting between a human boy named Keita and a young Tera Guardian girl named Kuro. |

Different from what others viewed, I find this anime started out pretty slow. The introductions of characters without any background story made whatever they are doing seems all over the place, without any motive to back up their actions. Besides, keita in the earlier episodes really annoyed me. Thank goodness he changed later on. The story may not be that special but what i think make it good is the relationships between the main characters. The fight may be repetitive and the changed of a few main character’s in the middle is not contributing ( read more)

The latter half of the anime which reveals everything and the conclusion succeed to connect the anime nicely. I left out with warm feeling and a bit teary eyed in the end. ( show less)

I finally finished it. Watching this anime was waste of my time. Ok, I admit, it have a nice plot, almost original, but everything else is boring. Main characters are so cliche but the support casts aren't anything better. Fights were very annoying repetitive, dialogues during the battles were also irritating.

I'm a bit biased as I follow the manga. I loved the Manga. I loved the characters and how they interacted and learning about why they are the way they are. They had drive and emotion. Keita in the manga is pretty much a selfish person trying to realize his dream of making video games for a living when he is 'rudely' (from his stand-point) interrupted by Kuro with the end result being he is tied to her and her fate. He is sad he lost his mother but is clearly trying to move on. The Anime Keita is a brooding pot of Emo still openly grieving for his ( read more)

There's really no other way to put it. While the Anime Keita is just pure Emo. Changing one of the main character's personality so drastically really killed my excitement for this anime. They also changed the way the 'contract' is realized but I imagine someone thought it was too gruesome.
The action scenes are fluid and the story is intriguing. I just couldn't make it past the 3rd Episode. I don't mind when Anime don't follow the Manga. I kinda like the curve ball feel and not knowing what's going on even though I've read the Manga. As long as it's a good storyline and the characters don't stray too far beyond what would be considered 'normal' in the parameters set for the Manga. I don't approve of changing characters as drastically as they did here. Half of the fun of Kuro Kami was the interaction between Keita and Kuro. It's really sad as this series had a lot of potential.
It retains the action of the Manga, which is one of the points I fell in love with so I could recommend it based on that. However, if you must watch this don't read the manga until the credits roll on the last episode. Maybe I just get too attached to characters... ( show less)

Keeping it as short as possible;
The show starts off extremely great with a seinen-ish feel. But as it prolongs, it becomes 100% monotonous. Fight scenes are great which is a credit for the animation company only. The characters lack development throughout the series and they have absolutely no emotion what so ever towards any situation. They are like chess pieces without its owners.
23 episodes of absolute waste is unforgivable. I regret watching this while there are other great shows to stumble upon.

If you want a show with good melee fight scenes, nice animation and a story that isn't incomprehensible, look no further. Trying to weed out the good action shows from the bad ones is annoying, trust me I have to do it all the time... but Kurokami has fun fights, and the show itself is pretty engaging. The show also starts off pretty strong, so watch the first few episodes and see if it is your cup of tea or not.

After the first few episodes i was reluctant to keep watching. Mainly because I wanted to punch the main character in the face. But he gradually turns into someone respectable.
Although it feels a little childish in some fight scenes, in others it can shine. The same goes for the animation, really shining in some episodes and others feeling a little unrefined.
Dialogue also suffered in areas. Do not get the english dub, you will hate yourself for even trying it. The voice actors for the english dub were horrible. They sounded like ( read more)

Stick to English subtitles. Trust me.
Once the story starts picking up many gaps appear. These are all eventually filled by the end of the series. Even though i didnt "like" the ending i accept the way the series closed.
I would go into further detail but i would probably hint towards the ending. Which is nicely hidden to build up suspense until very end of the last episode.
WATCH EVERYTHING AFTER THE CREDITS IN EACH EPISODE. Important things happen in the 10 seconds that would otherwise leave you confused at the start of the next. ( show less)
