Summary: |
The year is 2199. The human race has been crushed in their war with the Gamilos, driven into underground cities by the invader\'s assault. Scientists estimate they have only a year left. The young officers Susumu Kodai and Daisuke Shima receive a mysterious capsule from a ship that made an emergency landing on Mars and return with it to Earth. It contains humanity\'s last hope: the planet Iscandar on the other side of the Magellan Galaxy has the technology to defeat the Gamilos and restore the planet. |

Remarkable remake of the 1970 classic. Most anyone (except avid fans) who've watched the classic years ago would remember it fondly but would be slow to pinpoint the similarities or differences. Battle ship yamato literally looks and feels like a naval battleship out sailing in the seas of the galaxy, which is one of its memorable points.
The GOOD : CG, adequate physics, exciting ship to ship combat, character and inter-personal development, character art, script and story-line
The NOT-SO-GOOD (very few actually): the Gamilos could have ( read more)

The NOT-SO-GOOD (very few actually): the Gamilos could have been better "updated" in this remake to look more... Alien. The seem to be the same humaniods that were popular during that era of anime. Oh well. The producers seem to have followed the philiosphy: "If it aint broke, don't fix it " ( show less)
