This anime series really came to me as a surprise. Usually I am not into the space genre type of anime, but yesterday, by divine intervention I decided to give it a try and was totally amazed at what I found. This anime is a remake of the 1970’s version which I have not watched and won’t bother to (the anime art and animation of the 70’s are terrible and I wasn’t even born yet). Apparently the 1970’s version was a success and the remake of the anime into a more suitable version for today’s audience was delayed due to some legal issues. With the history lesson finished I will move on to more pressing matters, the judging of Space Battleship Yamato 2199 (2012 remake); the characters design and art is old fashioned with a splash of modern finesse and technique, balancing it nicely. The story line is very fast paced and it keeps you wrapped-up and on the edge of your seat. The dialogue complements the mood and has no awkward sentences that do not fit, however it can be a bit melodramatic at times. In total the series is very entertaining. I can’t wait for the next episodes. A million thanks to the person uploading it and to anime-access.
