This series had great potential of being an excellent series. The characters were likable and enjoyable. The animation art was good. Story premise was open to fit in more plot. The genre of supernatural, horror, mythological stuff is among my favorite.

I would have liked to have seen a bit more development, honestly. The short jobs are entertaining and range from humorous to somewhat dramatic. Initially, I thought the story was about the relationship development of Kantarou and Haruka. I would have liked to see that story to the end. However, this particular tale is not completely about them. I didn't realize the true story until the very end. It was quite sad but endearing. (show less)

It's hard to tell about good and bad sites of Tactics - it's about feelings. I found characters very sympathic and alive, with complicated feelings, emotions, problems. It made them so real... although the story isn't about reality at all ;) No, I mean spirits, ghosts, they DO exist, but, oh, you know ;)

First thing is that at some point I stopped watching after 9th (?) episode and I didn't feel like watching to the end. The main problem with this serie is in my opinoin lack of ... sense. Kantarou wants to meet Haruka, they meet, but there is no deeper reason for him to want that. It's said that Haruka s so strong and allmighty but in most of adventures it's Kantarou who's stronger and better. At the end I got a feeling that creators made this anime unfinished - the motive of a mysterious group is unknow, although in the last ep they said they wouldn't give up on returning back Haruka's memory - and then what? They want to kill him? Fight him? Make him change sites and cooperate with them? I just don't get it.

Maybe there's a continuation of this anime that I don't know about? Please someone tell there is, and that it will make Tactics ends in a good way so I can tell "it's really good". It hurts me 'cause although I really liked characters, I cannot say this anime is worth watching. :( It leaves feeling of dissapointment and sadness that it was not something you've imaged after seeing some first episodes. What I like about Tactics is the fact that it's all based on Japanese supernatural mythology and monsters, so it's something that's different from the norm. The characters work really well together and are a lot of fun, but the story also has a lot of dark undertones and a fair share of angst.
But at the end, what you get from this show is a thriller, a horror, a whole lot of comedy and characters who you can really feel for at the end.
To those who have read the manga, it does take a totally different path in a lot of respects, but it's story is equally thought provoking and fun. So give it a chance ;) (show less)

I loved this anime. If you're into youkai, oni, religious/spiritual themes, and are looking for characters that are complex, funny, kind but with darker sides, then this is the anime for you. Kantarou is very funny, he is a very talented onmyouji and also novelist, with his editor constantly hunting him down and threatening violence if he doesn't meet his deadlines. He also has a sweet fox demon housekeeper called Yoko. The episodes serve as a series of various stories of jobs the group takes. The main story of course is the relationship between Kantarou and the oni-eating tengu he releases from a sealed stone and becomes the master of by naming him Haruka. Although there is never anything overt, it feels sometimes that the relationship between Kantarou and Haruka is more intimate than friendship but this is never made clear.

The stories (jobs) they encounter are fun, funny, sometimes damn scary, and sometimes sad. There is drama, humor, various degrees of romance, heroism, and themes of friendship and an oddball family. Enjoy! (show less)
