The whole thing was created by one guy with a laptop.
The anime itself is a pretty charming tale of a long distance relationship combined with a healthy dose of alien fighting in large mechs. The anime also takes a look at space travel in a way that very few series or movies even attempt and does it very well. The only real downside is the length. It's only around 30 minutes and will be over before you know it. All things considered though it definitely warrants a full watch through. It won't take much of your time and it really is amazing seeing everything the creator could do with just his laptop.
