In a post-nuclear future, human race has made many steps. Normal people have become slaves, while genetically modified giants rule the world. Gunpowder is a distant memory and martial arts is the only weapon a man can count on. Two schools face each other in the battle for dominion: Hokuto and Nanto. Kenshiro is the rightful successor of Hokuto school, while Shin is Nanto's. Shin stole Ken's girlfriend Julia and Ken is looking for her. Kenshiro travels the barren wasterland of post-apocalyptic Earth as seeks to rescue Julia. As the series progresses, we are introduced to the six Grand Masters of the Nanto Seiken school, as well as Kenshiro's three adoptive brothers, also trained in the art of Hokuto Shinken. Eventually, Kenshiro's ultimate rival becomes none other than his eldest brother, Raoh, a would-be conqueror who does not recognize Kenshiro as a worthy succcessor. |

When I first heard about "Fist of the North Star", I was put off by the premise. I thought that this was one of those fight-to-the-death animes that would bore me. My friends joked about how manly you could become after watching it. Of course, I thought of it as a joke but, decided to give it try and I was converted. I had overlooked a great piece.
The story is actually quite simple which is a good start. Sometimes we don't want to think, we just want to sit back and enjoy. Then we have the characters. I think we have a kickass protagonist. ( read more)

Ken kills the bad guys, helps people in need, and is unbeatable. The animation sequences are repetitive in some instances but, it didn't stop me from watching the entire anime. I find that by the end of each episode, I want to watch more. Another bonus item about the series that I liked was the soundtrack.
Please do not hold any bias because Fist of the North Star is a great show to watch. It may be out of your comfort zone if you don't watch shounen anime but, it can't hurt to try. ( show less)

When people say that DBZ set the standart for shonen manga these days, then they,re right. But by what did dragonball z get influenced and inspired ? By this !
Not only is this one of the best Mangas and anime ever. It also inspired many other mangaka to mcreate other great series.
The fact that its a classic and old, does not mean it is bad. Its just amazing you gotta watch it.
Shoes like yu yu hakusho and dbz wouldnt even exist if there wasnt fist of the north star
MUST WATCH !

Absolutely awesome!!! Everyone should watch this anime at least once in their lives. Inspired in a PERFECT manga, so the story is just flawless and epic. The music is just incredible, for an old anime it's a relly good job!

I have been around I've seen all the imitators and all the wanna-be's but you can't beat this anime it was the trail blazer that held nothing back: violence, blood, human nature in its rawest form. It wasn't afraid to show nudity, and it sure as hell had been drawn well and had a good plot line. Even today the anime of today is still trying to top this series. Guys, it aint gonna happen. This is a Gem of all anime.

This is the first anime series that i watched when first shown on c4 some time ago and wot got me into anime
I think that this is one of the best anime ever because it has a very good story from start to end the story is around saddness to vitory. the action seens are very good and intense, the way the bad guys die is well deserved. it has good music. the animation and art work are good but this is an old series so it is in a different style.
