I'm not normally into "unique" anime like this one but the first time I watched it I was hooked. I was flipping through the anime section on Netflix when I came across RIN. I was so intrigued by the story line even though the gore totally threw me off for a bit. I enjoyed it very much and would suggest it to anyone that likes supernatural thriller type animes with a twist. Not for a weak stomach!

SUBJECT: COMPLAINT TO EDINBURGH POLICE
Dear Sir / Madam / Automated telephone answering service
Having spent the past tweny minutes waiting for someone at Leith police station to pick up a telephone I have decided to abandon the idea and try e-mailing you instead. Perhaps you would be so kind as to pass this message on to your colleagues in Leith by means of smoke signal, carrier pigeon or ouiji board.
As I’m writing this e-mail there are eleven failed medical experiments (I think you call then youths ?) in West Cromwell Street which is just off Commercial Street in Leith. Six of them seem happy enough to play a game which involves kicking a football against an iron gate with the force of a meteorite. This causes an earth shattering CLANG! which rings thoughout the entire building. This game is now in its third week and as I am unsure how the scoring system works, I have no idea if it will end any time soon.
The remaining five walking abortions, are happily rummaging though several bags of rubbish and items of furniture that someone has so thoughtfully dumped beside the wheelie bins. One of them has found a saw and is setting about a discarded chair like a beaver on speed. I fear that it’s only a matter of time before they turn their limited attention to the bottle of calor gas that is lying on its side between the two bins. If they could be relied on to only blow their own arms and legs off then I would happily leave them to it, I would even go as far as to lend them the matches. unforunately they are far more likely to blow up half the street and I’ve only just finished decorating my kitchen.
What I suggest is this - after replying to this e-mail with assurances that the matter is being looked into and will be dealt with, why not leave it until the one night of the year (probably bath night) when there are no mutants around then drive up the street in a panda car before doing a three point turn and disappearing again. This will of course serve no other purpose than to remind us what policemen actually look like.
I trust that when I take a clawhammer to the skull of one of these throwbacks you’ll do me the same courtesy of giving me a four month head start befors coming to arrest me.
I remain sir, your obedient servant
Mr. ************

REPLY:
Dear Mr. **********
I have read your e-mail and understand your frustration at the problems caused by youths playing in the area, and the problems you have encountered in trying to contact the police.
As community beat officer for your street I would like to extend an offer of discussing the matter fully with you. Should you wish to discuss the matter, please provide contact details (address / telephone number) and when may be suitable.
Regards
PC *******
Community Beat Officer
-------------------------------------
Dear PC *******
First of all I would like to thank you for the speedy response to my original e-mail. 16 hours and 38 minutes must be a personal record for the Leith police station and rest assured the I will forward these details to Norris McWhirter for inclusion in his next book.
Secondly I was delighted to hear that our street has its own community beat officer. May I be the first to congratulate on your covert skills. In the five or so years I have lived in West Cromwell Street, I have never seen you. Do you hide up a tree or have you gone deep undercover and infiltrated the gang itself? Are you the one with acne and the moustache on his forehead or the one with a chin like a wash hand basin? It’s surely only a matter of time before you are headhunted by MI-5.
Whilst I realise that there may be far more serious crime taking place in Leith such as smoking in a public place or being muslim without due care and attention, is it too much to ask for a policeman to explain (using words of no more than two syllables at a time ) to these tw*ts that they might want to play their strange football game elsewhere? The pitch behind the Citadel or the one at the docks are both within spitting distance as is the bottom of the Albert Dock.
Should YOU wish to discuss these matters further you should feel free to contact me on ???????. If after 25 minutes I have still failed to answer, I’ll buy you a large one in the Compass Pub Bar.
Regards
Mr. ********
P.S. If you think that this is sacrcasm, think yourself lucky that you don’t work for the cleansing department ( show less)

This is one of the most satisfying series I've had the pleasure of watching. The show is not for children, the story remains interesting which could only be appreciated by adults who have learned a thing or two from life. I skipped over this show a couple times because the cover art made me think it was one of those late 80s-early 90s animes. The art style is actually up to date. I sought out the reviews from the internet and learned that the show has some infamy, well earned by the fact that the show doesn't bend to censorship either in ideology ( read more)

I skipped over this show a couple times because the cover art made me think it was one of those late 80s-early 90s animes. The art style is actually up to date. I sought out the reviews from the internet and learned that the show has some infamy, well earned by the fact that the show doesn't bend to censorship either in ideology or in graphics. It's REALLY violent and REALLY sexual, but not simply for being either of those things in and of themselves. The more you watch the more you get out of the series. Some shows like to reverberate incessantly with story lines which don't really go anywhere and simply reflect the crappy lives we all know too well.
It's hard to say how excellent this show is without giving away some of the features. Nothing is randomly put into the show, everything has a purpose, and everything is explained by the end. It's on my list of must-see now. I knew by the end of the first episode that I'd be watching the whole thing; by the beginning of the second episode it was obvious that the creator knew there would be a small audience and rewards the remaining viewers accordingly. Authors note:
The name made me curious, and it made allot of sense after watching it.
The key point I should make perfectly clear however is, This is a pretty sadistic and twisted anime. It's defenately not for kids or people that are easily offended.
I couldn't decide how to write this review and this anime is uhm, rather unique in allot of ways. So I figure I'd just write and see what I came up with.

Review:
First off, Story! There's allot of under lying references to different mythologies in this Anime. Mnemosyne the personification/goddess/titaness of memory in Greek mythology, Yggdrasil the world tree from Norse myth/cosmology. So just from that point of view the story can be somewhat interesting. the actual story revolves mainly around Rin, but it expands out to other people further through the time line. Seemingly unimportant "side characters" that are killed off can actually become important piece of the main story futher down the time line. And yes "Time line" is correct, this is another thing that makes this animes story so intertesting. It's not all a linar story. As I said, the story mainly revolves around Rin, an immortal. So time is not reletive and each new episode skips sometimes a year, sometimes a few decades. But the changes in that time shift become apparent in both the people around Rin and world as a whole. As a whole, the story might seem bland and predictable but each episode is a story within the entire time line and that time line makes up the whole "main story". Each episode raises questions about the 'case' or 'job' which are probably answered in that episode, However, that answer sometimes leads to an even bigger question.
Animation, Hmm. In general it's pretty good. As far as character design goes, well Rin is done well(Does she remind anyone else of Integra Hellsing? Lol. Just look wise, She dies WAY to much.). I mean, she's the 'heroine', but there isn't really anything special about her. She doesn't have super powers, There's nothing above average about her except she's Immortal. I think Rin gets killed at least 4 times an episode and usually in some brutal fashion. NEXT! Epos, I REALLY liked the way this character was portayed. He's very sick and twisted with one hell of a sadistic streak. But comes across as a very innocent kid. But that's all I'll say, don't wanna spoil it. :P
All in all, RIN - Daughters of mnemosyne is a very twisted, sadistic and warpped story. Not just because what Rin has no choice but to live through. That's not to say it's bad, because it's a very good story and portayed in a very.. unique way. If you think being immortal is cool, you'll probably reconsider after seeing this. So, if you're young, dislike very horrible ways to die or are just easily offended, this isn't for you. Otherwise, Give it a try you might enojoy it. ( show less)

It's only around 6 episodes long, but each episode is more painful than entertaining. This anime with a very predictable and boring story also have a boring characters. The series also concentrate too much on the main protagonist who is also boring. This anime is worth a watch only if you love some supernatural action and fight scenes with a bunch of "hot" cheaks.
