I'm not normally into "unique" anime like this one but the first time I watched it I was hooked. I was flipping through the anime section on Netflix when I came across RIN. I was so intrigued by the story line even though the gore totally threw me off for a bit. I enjoyed it very much and would suggest it to anyone that likes supernatural thriller type animes with a twist. Not for a weak stomach!

This is one of the most satisfying series I've had the pleasure of watching. The show is not for children, the story remains interesting which could only be appreciated by adults who have learned a thing or two from life. I skipped over this show a couple times because the cover art made me think it was one of those late 80s-early 90s animes. The art style is actually up to date. I sought out the reviews from the internet and learned that the show has some infamy, well earned by the fact that the show doesn't bend to censorship either in ideology ( read more)

I sought out the reviews from the internet and learned that the show has some infamy, well earned by the fact that the show doesn't bend to censorship either in ideology or in graphics. It's REALLY violent and REALLY sexual, but not simply for being either of those things in and of themselves. The more you watch the more you get out of the series. Some shows like to reverberate incessantly with story lines which don't really go anywhere and simply reflect the crappy lives we all know too well.
It's hard to say how excellent this show is without giving away some of the features. Nothing is randomly put into the show, everything has a purpose, and everything is explained by the end. It's on my list of must-see now. I knew by the end of the first episode that I'd be watching the whole thing; by the beginning of the second episode it was obvious that the creator knew there would be a small audience and rewards the remaining viewers accordingly. Authors note:
The name made me curious, and it made allot of sense after watching it.
The key point I should make perfectly clear however is, This is a pretty sadistic and twisted anime. It's defenately not for kids or people that are easily offended.
I couldn't decide how to write this review and this anime is uhm, rather unique in allot of ways. So I figure I'd just write and see what I came up with.

Review:
First off, Story! There's allot of under lying references to different mythologies in this Anime. Mnemosyne the personification/goddess/titaness of memory in Greek mythology, Yggdrasil the world tree from Norse myth/cosmology. So just from that point of view the story can be somewhat interesting. the actual story revolves mainly around Rin, but it expands out to other people further through the time line. Seemingly unimportant "side characters" that are killed off can actually become important piece of the main story futher down the time line. And yes "Time line" is correct, this is another thing that makes this animes story so intertesting. It's not all a linar story. As I said, the story mainly revolves around Rin, an immortal. So time is not reletive and each new episode skips sometimes a year, sometimes a few decades. But the changes in that time shift become apparent in both the people around Rin and world as a whole. As a whole, the story might seem bland and predictable but each episode is a story within the entire time line and that time line makes up the whole "main story". Each episode raises questions about the 'case' or 'job' which are probably answered in that episode, However, that answer sometimes leads to an even bigger question.
Animation, Hmm. In general it's pretty good. As far as character design goes, well Rin is done well(Does she remind anyone else of Integra Hellsing? Lol. Just look wise, She dies WAY to much.). I mean, she's the 'heroine', but there isn't really anything special about her. She doesn't have super powers, There's nothing above average about her except she's Immortal. I think Rin gets killed at least 4 times an episode and usually in some brutal fashion. NEXT! Epos, I REALLY liked the way this character was portayed. He's very sick and twisted with one hell of a sadistic streak. But comes across as a very innocent kid. But that's all I'll say, don't wanna spoil it. :P
All in all, RIN - Daughters of mnemosyne is a very twisted, sadistic and warpped story. Not just because what Rin has no choice but to live through. That's not to say it's bad, because it's a very good story and portayed in a very.. unique way. If you think being immortal is cool, you'll probably reconsider after seeing this. So, if you're young, dislike very horrible ways to die or are just easily offended, this isn't for you. Otherwise, Give it a try you might enojoy it. ( show less)

Actually, i was surprised to eagerly i keept downloading the next and next... and next. You wont find robots but an interesting storyline + timeline. I liked the fact that the episodes are double the usual length. Good quality. However, this is NOT FOR KIDS! But for girlfriens! Enjoy.
