Enter the strange world of Kimihiro Watanuki a boy who can see spirits and spiritual happenings and follow his unique and bizarre world alongside Yuko and Mokona. For those of you who enjoy the less fight-central animes and strive for something far more intriguing xxxHOLIC will leave you baffled and wanting more after every episode. The story is done by CLAMP so the animation style is striking and very distinctive, the story is bizarre but definitely the most interesting take on the supernatural I have ever watched. Every episode has a sub-plot, and comedy is rife throughout the anime. One of my Favourite things is the intro song, it gives me chills every time i watch it, the mood is just chilled and it suits the anime. If you have watched "Tsbasa Chronicles" I highly recommend xxxHOLIC and vice versa. The show is genius and bizarre with no reason in sight, my only issue is the english voice-over which sounds high-pitch, but there is always Japanese. XxxHOLIC is amazing, entertaining and Intriguing, watch it if you want the most INTERESTING experience you can get! (show less)

I'm always been a huge fan of CLAMP work, so I might be a bit biased, but I considered this anime to be excellent.

First of all, the art is incredible, very detailed for characters like Yuko, and very creative and interesting for other entities that go around. The music must also be noticed here for setting a nice "occult-kinda" feeling to the series. Characters are very well thought of, and have a very deep development to them, although not all of it is reveales in the series [you would have to go to the manga for that].

The story in itself is not that overly complicated... in the anime that is. You can think of this as an animated crash course on Japanese superstitions and all that. A good sub will have some notes on things that might be particularly foreign to westerners.

I said that the story is not that complicated in the anime, because this title on Manga has a huge relationship with "Tsubasa Chronicles", also by CLAMP... but this relationship is not portrayed as much in the animation.

Overall I'm sure that you would find this anime entertaining; do try to watch a couple of episodes; remember that there are no coincides in this world, the fact that you're reading my review means something... maybe to go and watch xXx Holic (show less)

I think it's important to know that both the stories of XXXHolic and Tsubasa Chronicles are connected. I also think that from my experience, it's good to watch Tsubasa first.
Saying that, if you take the show for what it is, it is fantastic. Yuuko is one of the most mysterious, irrational and brilliant female characters of all time and whilst Watanuki is a energetic, kindhearted idiot - he is also one of my favourite, kindest anime guys I have ever seen.
There is no set story to XXXHolic. They are a series of small arcs dealing with different cases brought to Yuuko's shop. But it's wonderful seeing how Watanuki develops as a character and how Yuuko brings him and other characters together.
It's worth watching for Yuuko and Watanuki and Watanuki and Doumeki dynamics alone.
Plus the artwork and music are lovely. (show less)
